How to Fix the Deceptive Site warning on WHM Login<\/h1>\n

Google Chrome\u2019s latest update is showing a \u201cDeceptive site ahead\u201d Warning on WHM for server<\/a> using their default\u00a0srvlist.ukfast.net<\/span><\/code>\u00a0hostname:<\/p>\n

To resolve this, you\u2019ll need to set a hostname on each of your cPanel<\/a> servers, and use this hostname in future to access the server.<\/p>\n

First, choose a hostname on a domain that you own, and can create DNS records on. We will use\u00a0server.exampledomain.com<\/span><\/code>\u00a0in our examples.<\/p>\n

You can choose any hostname you want, as long as each cPanel<\/a> server has a unique name. Don\u2019t use any of the subdomains that cPanel would use (mail.<\/span><\/code>,\u00a0cpanel.<\/span><\/code>, etc.) as this may cause issues.<\/p>\n

Set an A record for the hostname you\u2019ve chosen, and point it to the IP address you use to access WHM\/cPanel.<\/a><\/p>\n

If you use SafeDNS you can follow the guides below, for external DNS Services the records you need to create are the same, but the interface will be different, contact your DNS Provider for instructions if needed.<\/p>\n

Add a domain to SafeDNS<\/span>\u00a0Add an A record to a Domain in SafeDNS<\/span><\/p>\n

Once the A record is created, you may need to wait for the record to propagate for it to work in your browser, this can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 48 hours depending on that domain\u2019s TTL Setting.<\/p>\n

You can continue with this guide in the meantime. Next we\u2019ll need to set the hostname on the server.<\/p>\n

Using an alternate browser (as this issue only affects the latest chrome update) you\u2019ll be able to log into WHM.<\/p>\n

Once logged in, in the navigation bar on the left, click the dropdown for \u201cNetworking Setup\u201d, and the Select \u201cChange Hostname\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the New Hostname box, enter the hostname you\u2019ve chosen to use, and click \u201cchange\u201d.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll see a confirmation screen that looks like the following. If no errors are shown then the change was successful.<\/p>\n

WHM Should now automatically update the SSL certificate for the new hostname, but If you want to double check, go to the \u201cManage Service SSL Certificates\u201d option, under Service configuration in the navigation bar, and check the \u201cCertificate properties\u201d field, to ensure it matches the new hostname.<\/p>\n

If it does not match, then click the corresponding \u201creset certificate\u201d option.<\/p>\n

Once the A record has propagated, you\u2019ll now be able to browse the WHM Login, using the server\u2019s hostname and port\u00a02087<\/span><\/code>\u00a0without any warnings, e.g.\u00a0https:\/\/server.exampledomain.com:2087\/<\/span><\/code>.<\/p>\n
