Each invoice includes a numerical identifier (the invoice number). You can choose to use the system default invoice numbering system or you can customize it for your business’s needs.<\/p>\n

  • IND\/789<\/code><\/li>\n

    Customize your invoice numbers<\/h2>\n

    To configure WHMCS with a custom invoice numbering sequence:<\/p>\n

    1. Go to\u00a0Configuration > System Settings > Tax Configuration<\/strong>\u00a0(prior to WHMCS 8.0,\u00a0Setup > Payments > Tax Configuration<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

    2. Toggle\u00a0Tax Support<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0On.<\/em><\/p>\n

    3. Toggle\u00a0Custom Invoice Numbering<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0On.<\/em><\/p>\n

    4. For\u00a0Custom Invoice Numbering Format<\/strong>, enter the invoice numbering format to use.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    You can enter characters that will appear in the invoice number that the client will see and additional tags\u00a0<\/em>that the system will replace with a value when generating the individual invoices.<\/p>\n

    You can use the following tags:<\/p>\n

    • {NUMBER}<\/code>\u00a0The\u00a0Next Invoice Number\u00a0<\/strong>value.<\/li>\n
    • {YEAR}<\/code>\u00a0The four-digit year value for the current date.<\/li>\n
    • {MONTH}<\/code>\u00a0The two-digit month value for the current date.<\/li>\n
    • {DAY}<\/code>\u00a0The two-digit day value for the current date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      For example:<\/p>\n

      • ABC-{NUMBER}<\/code>\u00a0would generate invoice numbers like\u00a0ABC-1234<\/code>,\u00a0ABC-1235<\/code>, and\u00a0ABC-1236<\/code>.<\/li>\n
      • {DAY}-{MONTH}-{YEAR}~{NUMBER}<\/code>\u00a0would generate invoice numbers like\u00a021-06-2023~1234<\/code>,\u00a021-06-2023~1235<\/code>, and\u00a022-06-2023~1236<\/code>.<\/li>\n
      • IND\/{NUMBER}<\/code>\u00a0would generate invoice numbers like\u00a0IND\/1234<\/code>,\u00a0IND\/1235<\/code>, and\u00a0IND\/1236<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

        5. For\u00a0Next Invoice Number<\/strong>, specify the number to assign to the next generated invoice.<\/p>\n
